Luis Barrios to Receive the 2025 ALIS CALA Lifetime Achievement Award
Miami, Florida, USA – – Luis Barrios of Hoteles City Express and Norte19 Promotora de Hoteles, will be honored with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at ALIS CALA on April 29, 2025, hosted at the Loews Coral Gables Hotel in Florida. This prominent award is presented to individuals who have made significant contributions to the hospitality industry over their lifetime through their actions, deeds, and great accomplishments.

Luis Barrios is a prominent Mexican entrepreneur recognized for his remarkable career in the hospitality industry and significant contribution to Mexico's tourism development. He is the Executive Chairman of the Board of Norte 19 Promotora de Hoteles, a company dedicated to hotel investment that offers comprehensive solutions in national and international brands' design, development, and operation. Additionally, through its technology area, the company has an advanced distribution, revenue optimization, and operation platform for the hotel sector called Stack Up.
Luis Barrios' entrepreneurial vision became evident in 2002 with the launch of City Express, now City Express by Marriott, an innovative concept focused on the business travel market in Mexico with a strong emphasis on sustainability. Under his leadership, the company evolved into Hoteles City, one of the largest hotel platforms in the country, transforming the industry and attracting significant investor attention. In 2022, Barrios successfully sold the five brands developed by the company to Marriott International, marking a significant milestone in its history. This transition led to Hoteles City becoming Norte 19 Promotora de Hoteles.
In 2013, Luis Barrios and his team took the company public by listing its shares on the Mexican Stock Exchange under the ticker Hcity.
Throughout his more than 30-year career in the sector, Luis Barrios has played prominent roles in various organizations. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of Corporación Actinver S.A.B. de C.V., part of the Metropolitan Advisory Council of NAFINSA, and General Director of Casa de Bolsa Bursamex. In the tourism sector, he is Vice President of the National Tourism Business Council and President of the National Association of Hotel Chains "Hoteles por México." In addition, he was CEO and Director of Grupo Posadas. As a business sector representative, he participates as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Communication Council. He is part of the Council of the Mexican Fund for Nature Conservation.
